Azar Badamov: "Up to 90% of Azerbaijan's non-oil exports are exported to Russia"

Azar Badamov: "Up to 90% of Azerbaijan's non-oil exports are exported to Russia"

Azar Badamov, a member of the Milli Majlis from Gusar (YAP), commented on the criticism regarding the Consultations Plan signed between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Russia. Accusing the opposition of being biased, the MP said that the critics are trying to weaken the foundations of the state.

"Radicals probably do not know that up to 90% of Azerbaijan's non-oil exports are exported to Russian markets," said the MP.

Fakt Yoxla examined whether this claim was true.

According to the data of the Center for Analysis and Communication of Economic Reforms, during the first 10 months of 2022, Azerbaijan's exports in the non-oil sector amounted to 2 billion 400 million dollars. 70 percent of the exports in this area fell to Russia, Turkey, Georgia, Switzerland, and Kazakhstan.

Since 2022 is not over yet, the above information may be an incomplete picture. Looking at the statistics of recent years, it becomes clear that there has not been much change in the share of Russia in the export of non-oil products of Azerbaijan.

Thus, official data refutes the claim that Russia's share in the non-oil export sector is close to 90 percent. This indicator has varied between 32.5-35.9 percent in the last five years.

Fakt Yoxla concluded that Azar Badamov's claim is False.
