Who we are?
"Fakt Yoxla" (Fact Check) is an independent non-governmental organization aimed at preventing public manipulation. Although it was initiated by the Institute for Democratic Initiatives in 2019, it was officially registered in Georgia as an independent NGO on May 28, 2021, with the identification code 406331063.
Currently, "Fakt Yoxla" conducts fact-checking on politics, law, human rights, social, economic, and COVID-19 topics.
The organisation's goals include the following:
1. Verify the truthfulness of statements made by public figures and whether politicians keep their promises.
2. Monitor legislation and oversee the effective implementation of laws in practice.
3. Investigate how well Azerbaijan fulfills its international obligations and whether the laws adopted in the country conform to the human rights recognized worldwide.
4. Detect false news circulating in the media and various internet resources and inform the public.
The accuracy of facts stated by public figures is verified using the following possible information resources:
1. By using the official websites of government agencies;
2. Through official inquiries sent by a “Fakt Yoxla” member to obtain public information;
3. By searching the internet for reports, research, and statements from government and non-governmental organisations, news agencies, media outlets, research institutions, and similar organisations;
4. By interviewing public figures and their media contacts.
The "Fakt Yoxla" team assists the public, voters, and politicians in determining the truth on national issues. This helps increase public accountability among politicians and promotes the development of political rhetoric based on and supported by facts.
The active users of "Fakt Yoxla" include Members of Parliament, government members, ministry staff and other state agency employees, local self-governing structure members and servants, politicians, diplomats, heads of foreign missions, representatives of non-governmental and international organisations, experts, students, young entrepreneurs, and youth working in education and other fields.
