On March 7, Sputnik Azerbaijan’s website published a report entitled “AstraZeneca kills: European country rejects it”. A 49-year-old woman who was vaccinated against the new coronavirus (COVID-19) strain in Austria has died and the condition of a 35-year-old woman who was also vaccinated has deteriorated, the report said.
Fakt Yoxla examined whether the claim was true.
On March 7, a woman died after being vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine in Austria, and a thrombus occurred in the pulmonary artery of the other woman. The Austrian Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG) said in a statement that it was not clear whether the incident was related to the vaccine.
As for the rejection, Austria did not completely abandon the vaccine, but simply suspended the use of its batch ABV5300.
Countries such as Germany, Spain, and Italy have also suspended the use of the vaccine.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) 's safety committee, PRAC, said there was no evidence that the vaccine had caused the incidents.
"The number of thromboembolic events in vaccinated individuals is not higher than normal," the committee said.
The World Health Organization also states that there is no link between the incidents and the vaccination and that it is important to continue the vaccination process.
Fakt Yoxla concludes that Sputnik Azerbaijan's report is a Manipulation of Facts.
