Araz Alizade: "23% of people support Zelensky"

Araz Alizade: "23% of people support Zelensky"

“73% of the population voted for Zelensky when he was elected president. According to the latest opinion poll, Zelensky's vote was 23%. In other words, he is supported by 23% of people due to his actions after his election.”

This was stated by the chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, former MP Araz Alizade.

Fakt Yoxla examined whether this claim was true.

The last presidential election in Ukraine was held in March 2019. 39 candidates participated in the first round of elections. No candidate won an absolute majority in this round.

In April 2019, the second round was held between the two candidates who received the most votes - Volodymyr Zelensky and Petro Poroshenko. In the first round, Zelensky won 30.24% of the vote, while his opponent Petro Poroshenko won 15.95%.

Voters for the other 37 candidates who failed to advance to the next round had to choose between Zelensky and Poroshenko in the second round. The majority of voters of these candidates voted for Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to the results of the second round of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine, Zelensky won 73.22% of the vote, and Poroshenko - 24.45%. Thus, Zelensky won the election and was elected the new president of Ukraine.

In December 2021, the Rating Sociological Group conducted a survey by asking, "Who would you vote for if presidential elections are held in the near future?". Zelensky received 23.5% of the vote in a poll of 13 candidates.

However, Zelensky was the candidate who received the most votes in the poll. In other words, the majority of voters said they supported him as president.

According to the poll, Poroshenko came in second with 13.4% of the vote, behind Zelensky. The votes of the other 14 candidates included in the poll did not exceed 10%.

Rating Sociological Group conducted a survey in February this year after Russia's military intervention in Ukraine. In a poll called "Satisfaction with the work of the President of Ukraine", 91% of respondents said they supported Zelensky's latest steps.

Thus, speaking about the rating of Volodymyr Zelensky, Araz Alizade referred to the opinion poll conducted after the elections in Ukraine. Zelensky received 73.22% of the vote in the presidential election and 23.5% in the opinion poll two years after the election. However, Zelensky received the most votes compared to the 13 candidates included in the poll.

Fakt Yoxla concludes that Araz Alizade's claim is a Manipulation of Facts.
